It's been a tough couple of months. I finally went to the doctor concerning my wheezing and gurgling last month and set off a chain of events that has yet to reach a conclusion. My lungs have once again become a medical mystery and they're preventing me from being able to run effectively. I've been trying to get out and walk a few times a week but it's just not the same.
Well, it seems that when I am able to run again I'm going to be all the way back to square one. I don't know how else I'm going to start again. It's really disappointing to think that after all of that hard work I put in last year that I can't really even run a whole mile at this point.
I missed the Capital City 1/2 Marathon after being in the hospital for three days the week prior. I'm holding out hope that I'll be able to start training again soon and hopefully I'll be able to participate in the Spirit of Columbus 1/2 Marathon at the end of the summer. We'll see what happens. For now, I'm just taking it one day at a time.
On a side note: I've been tracking my runs with my Nike+ SportBand. I wish that it would let you pick a different verb than "ran" when posting on social media sites. "Walk" or "crawl" are much more appropriate action words to describe a 20 minute mile. Also, the SportBand software was recently upgraded from version 1 to version 2. It would have been nice for Nike to give you a warning that it wouldn't retain your calibration when upgrading. Hopefully one of the other things that it'll fix is the software wigging out when two users are logged into a Windows 7 computer.
