Dirty Jobs

Well, here it is June 30, 2010. It's my official last day of work. I can't believe it's going down like this. I haven't been unenjoyed for more than two weeks ever since I was 14 years old. I've only been fired once the possible exception being the simultaneous fire/quit at Sal's deli. I contend that I quit before he fired me. I thought I'd take a quick minute and try to list all of the jobs that I've ever had and maybe a little note to go with it, so here goes:

High School Years 1985-1989
Shop Cleaner: L'il Angels and Devils Kid's clothing shop Ft. Myers, FL (Made $2/hour and worked 1.5 hours a day. Managed to save enough money to buy a Stratocaster which I never learned how to play other than a few Ramones songs)

Dish Washer: Italian American Club Cape Coral, FL (Smelled like ass every night when I left and the old ladies that tried to dress sexy were GROSS!)

Dish Washer/Shop Cleaner: Sal's Deli Ft. Myers, FL

Auto Wash/Detailer: Sunshine Auto Wash North Ft. Myers, FL (Got to drive a LOT of cool cars even if it was only for 50 yards or so.)

Dishwasher/Cook/Delivery: LaRosa's Pizza Cincinnati, OH (Too many stories)

Post High School/Pre-College 1989-1991
Attendant/Cashier: Sohio/BP Cincinnati, OH (Remember Full Service?)

Vacuum Cleaner Sales: Filter Queen Cincinnati, OH (Lasted less than three weeks and was where I figured out that I wasn't cut out for sales)

Line Cook/Delivery: LaRosa's Pizza Cincinnati, OH (Second Stint: Again, too many stories)

College Years 1991-1995
Cashier: Schottenstein's Department Store Columbus, OH

Lot Attendant/Equipment Maintenance: Action Rental Reynoldsburg, OH (most memorable day was knocking down an abandoned house on the property by myself and being attacked by a swarm of bees)

Delivery Driver: Pizza Hut Reynoldsburg, OH (I learned that it's hard to soar with the eagles when you're flying with Turkeys)

Telcom Cable Installer: DELVE Columbus, OH (Temporary job where I wired up a new telephone and video system at Thomas Worthington High School in the 92-93 timeframe. It was prevailing wage at about $16/hr and I thought "I'm rich, bitch!")

Arcade Attendent: Flamingo Video Arcade Columbus, OH (Maybe three weeks)

Temporary Employee: KB/Kaplan Columbus, OH (Columbus Credit Bureau, Highlights for Children warehouse)

Screen Printing Assistant: Teletrend Blacklick, OH (Hotter than balls, averaged 120 degrees in the summer)

Warehouse Picker: Hills Department Store Warehouse Columbus, OH (worked 60+ hours per week while going to school full time. Most physically demanding job I think I ever had)

PC Repair/Shipping: General Diagnostics Hilliard, OH (Learned valuable lessons about interpersonal relationships at work. ie, Don't pick fights with the lady that's blowing the boss. That's a career limiting move. Only job I was fired from.)

Remote Setup Tech: WBNS Radio B-97.1FM/1460 AM Columbus, OH (Set up remote transmitting tower, tents, and promotional items for WBNS Radio. The holiday parties were awesome, the OSU football Saturdays SUCKED. This is also where I learned to HATE the Ohio State Fair)

Transducer Tester: Sensotec Columbus, OH

Post College 1995-2010
PC Technician: Incredible Universe Columbus, OH (Very first job with PC tech being my only duty. Got hired 6 months before Windows 95 came out)

LAN Administrator/Remote Support: NextEra Medical Columbus, OH (first job as a parent. They ended up hiring Laela too and we were able to bring Miranda to work with us for the first two years of her life. Eternally grateful for the extra time I got to spend with my family)

Network Consultant: MicroAge Technology Services Columbus,OH

Network Consultant: Paros Business Partners Columbus, OH

Microsoft Technologies Consultant: nSystems, LLC Columbus, OH (Working at ODJFS)

Network Consultant: B.I.T.S. Columbus, OH (
Working for various small business around town engineering and maintaining their networks)

I was a pizza slingin' mofo. I even was entered in the LaRosa's "Pizz-a-lympics" two consecutive years.

Didn't you work at a radio station? That one was fun. Love, Libby
